The district needed a rim that would last on some of the toughest playgrounds in the country. A static load of 1,000 lbs. was applied to the outermost point of the ring without any permanent deformation. Deflection under this pressure was measured at 1 1/4'. Two steel rings (3/4' and 1/2') are welded together and reinforced with 3/16' wing plates and a 5/8' x 15' brace.
