So, borrowing a slogan from his friend and fellow coach, Gerry Faust, Holtz had a sign crafted that read, 'Play Like a Champion Today.' The sign, bright gold with dark blue lettering, was positioned above a stairway outside the Notre Dame locker room, and beneath another, larger sign listing all of the Fighting Irish's national championships. And soon a tradition emerged: players tapped the 'Play Like a Champion Today' sign for luck on the way to the field. This product is a framed 16x20 color photograph of the two signs in the stairway outside the Notre Dame locker room, and it comes double-matted with a nameplate detailing the slogan's history.
