| National Pole Vaulting Standards - 1 Pair |
This new standard has a completely redesigned clamping system and a handle added for ease of operation. The clamping system has been raised to be above the base pad protectors when in the lowest position. The tightening knob has been moved to the outside to make it more 'official friendly'. The adjustable readout plate is designed to deflect polls away from the clamping bracket and minimize pole damage. The 5/16' thick thread plate is easily replaced if due to excessive use or over tightening, the threads are damaged. This standard features stiff uprights made of fluted aircraft quality aluminum. Multiple offset positions set at 12' increments. Dual mounting locations facilitate height adjustments from 5'-21'. Dual English/Metric scale is easy to read and calibrate. Gill rolled aluminum discus cages are fabricated from 2 1�2' (2 7/8') schedule 40 pipe size aluminum tube. Ground sleeves are schedule 40 PVC pipe and will not rust. Cages employ a vinyl coated steel net support cable to reduce net sag, ensuring maximum net height. Gill Athletics' NCAA Discus Cages can be installed in two different pole layouts. The standard wide mouth layout matches the cage dimensions as shown in the 2005 NCAA rules. The new narrow mouth layout takes into account the new 34.92 degree sector and greatly reduces the area outside the landing sector that an errant thrown discus can land in while not impeding a good throw. For new construction, the NCAA recommends a narrower cage mouth. The net is constructed of 320 lb test, 42A knotless weather treated nylon. The Gill free standing discus, shot, and indoor weight cages are fabricated from 2 1�2' schedule 40 aluminum pipe. Net poles have 33' rolled offsets and are mounted on heavy steel bases. Bases are fitted with two ball bearing wheels, (8' for outdoor and 6' for indoor cages), which allow pole assemblies to be rocked back and easily moved. Once in position, four 5 gallon jugs, filled with water or sand, secure net poles in place. Cages employ weather treated nylon nets and vinyl coated steel net support cables to reduce net sag, ensuring maximum net height. Nets are secured to bases by replaceable shock absorbing bungee cords. Optional 8' outer barrier nets are an available accessory.
