Google's link: command will only report certain kinds of links. The popular wisdom has been the link had to be from a page with a Google PageRank of around 4 or higher, but I'm starting to believe the method is slightly more complicated than that. I believe the link has to be passing on a certain level of PageRank before it gets listed. As originally put forth by the men who invented it, PageRank works on a formula where by a link passes on a certain amount of value. This value is calculated with a formula whose core value is the PageRank of the page where the link resides divided by the number of links on that page. From there, the formula has certainly been expanded over the years by Google, but this core value appears to have remained intact. So, if the links page of the other site has a PageRank of 4, but it has 20 links on it, the PageRank core value of that link will only be .2. On the whole, in my experience, that would be one of the better quality links you could get in a webmaster-to-webmaster swap. Its more common for the links page on a given site to have a PageRank of 2 or 3. It gets worse on sites who are running automated links programs like LinksManager.com where you'll see a website with literally hundreds of links pages all broken down into category pages. The value of a link from such sites is neglible, yet non-zero. Google does count those links internally as long as the originating links page is in the index - rare, but it can happen. And, heaven help us, every once in a while a real live human being actually stumbles across such links and clicks on them - which, as they say, is the object of the exercise in the first place. Faced with link invitations from such relatively poor partners, I've started to segregate my links pages into quality and non-quality links. If I get a link from a webmaster where there is a respectable value in the link - I'm not talking about PageRank so much as simply a page that's directly linked from the site's main page and only contains a few dozen links - I return the favor with a link on my better links page. With an ambitious webmaster, I'm willing to believe the value of that link will improve with age and we will build a valuable relationship. But if the link comes from one of these ink refill or online casino sites, they get put on the low-quality links pages. Its the principle of value given for value received, in my opinion. I'm not so well-off that I can turn down links without a second thought because I don't work nearly hard enough on it for the 3 sites my wife and I operate, but I'm not going to penalize hard-working, fair-minded webmasters that I trade with for that by lumping them together with the trashy links that I do occasionally tolerate. UK Search Engine

Mission Statement Let's face it, the amount of information on the Internet is way past the point of being overwhelming. Search engines are evolving rapidly and improving, but have you noticed that when you use a search engine to find what you are looking for, more often than not you'll receive a clutter of irrelevant or useless information. Then after lots of time, money and effort you eventually may or might not find what you've been looking for. Therefore search engines have an increasingly more difficult task providing quality results to keep up with the website explosion which has reached unprecedented levels and is still increasing exponentially. Well, the ShopperUK.com shopping directory was created to come to the rescue of UK shoppers as well as online shops and stores who specifically wish to offer their products to the UK market. Whereby, more and more recognised High Street stores are now offering their goods and services online to join the established merchants who have been on the internet for several years. The British are a discerning lot, and rightly so, they deserve nothing but the best, so ShopperUK's aim is to harness reputable stores and companies, by creating a convenient directory for your online shopping needs at secure stores that we feel probably offer the best products, competitive prices, most interesting and unique shopping sites on the net. During 2002, ShopperUK.com has developed further by incorporating an extensive section on "Holidays and Travel", together with a Finance Directory, listing reputable and established companies in the financial services sector offering credit cards, insurance, loans, mortgages and many other relevant services Also, by kind permission of a couple of the UK's leading Internet magazines, there are some very useful articles and shopping guides, which are recommended to all those new and experienced online shoppers. These offer sensible advice for maintaining online shopping a safe, secure and as pleasurable experience as possible. We hope you enjoy your visit to ShopperUK.com, and look forward to your repeated visits to your valuable first stop resource for a fast, easy and friendly way to online shopping. Throughout the forthcoming years ShopperUK.com already have plans for useful exciting features to implement which we trust will only serve as an increased benefit to the online shopper.

UK Books

Editorial Reviews From the Publisher If there ever was a book that should be read by the entire adult population, this is it. The events described in The Great Bust Ahead will be the greatest story of the first quarter of the twenty-first century, if not the century. All of our lives are going to be dramatically affected beginning in just a few years from now. The depression of epic proportions that is predicted has THIRTY MILLION unemployed and stock market losses of over eighteen TRILLION dollars. The book leaves you with the conviction that for the first time you understand what the economy is all about. Everything presented in the book is so factual, so unchallengeable, it is hard to know what to say other than "go read it" and then start preparing as best you can. About the Author Dan Arnold was a manager and then consultant with General Electric for fifteen years. He started and ran a successful manufacturing company in Santa Clara County California for ten years. After being bought out by a larger company Dan focused on investment and understanding the economy's long term trends. This work lead directly to his shocking new book. Book Description The Great Bust Ahead is a concise, straight to the point book laying out in stark terms the case for a coming depression of historically unprecedented magnitude. It will be much worse than the 1930s, beginning perhaps as early as 2009-2010, and last up to thirteen years. Centered on hard fact demographics, the book boldly claims that the data presented are so irrefutable, that the outcome predicted by the book is equally as irrefutable. The compelling proof presented accurately accounts for the detailed trend of the economy from 1920 to today (something never before accomplished), and projects out to 2030 in detail. The book is very easy to read and understand, and requires no prior knowledge of economics. Down to earth things the average person can do to prepare for what is coming are covered. A summary of the catastrophic domestic social and international consequences is offered.

Classical Music

from Cross Creek, FL United States The only drawback to this CD is the amount of opera it contains. While the 'singing' selections are relatively short, I've had to program the player to skip them. Now, the purist may sniff their nose at my dislike for opera, but I listen to classical to get away from singing...and opera does NOTHING for me. The rest of the selections are first rate, with only a few duplicates from among my other CD's (Classical Masters Box set's, and the ubiquitous Eine klein Nachmusik). If you have no objection to opera and are relatively new to Mozart, I would highly recommend this CD Was this review helpful to you?
