All Aeron chairs, unless specified, come with Standard Carpet Casters . These casters are designed to work best on commercial/industrial carpet usually found in business offices or any place where a lot of foot traffic is expected. Standard carpet is usually tightly woven and low pile.
You can option to purchase Hard-Floor Casters which are designed for use in non-carpeted floors. They have a thin rubberized coating to prevent floor marring and to provide enough traction to prevent the chair from flying across the room when you push away from your desk.
Deep Carpet Casters are another option for use on thicker carpeted areas such as that typically found in the home. These 3" casters are slightly larger than the standard 2.5" caster to ensure an effortless motion through thick carpet.
