The UB Laminated Double Bass is a true European made double bass hand assembled and finished in the USA by Upton Bass. Graduated laminations of well seasoned Carpathian sycamore maple and European spruce are topped with all grade A ebony fittings.A hand applied varnish is done in house right in their Stonington Connecticut workshop! They have tested their varnish in the most extreme situations and we are 100 confident in its durability. Gently antiqued color shading...the scratches and dents are up to you!. Each Upton bass has its own distinct character while still maintaining brand uniformity. In honor of some vintage Americana the Upton Bass Laminated SuperSwing Double Bass pays respect to the detail work found on older higher quality American basses of the 40s 50s 60s. The UB SuperSwing Double Bass is a true European made double bass made to the exacting specifications of Upton Bass. The utmost care and craftsmanship has been employed in the construction of this double bass to ensure that every detail receives proper attention. Graduated laminations of Carpathian sycamore maple and solid carved European spruce tops on our hybrid versions are finished with all ebony fittings. In tribute to the highly collectable and widely sought after Kay basses that were custom made exclusively for professional musicians of the 30s 40s and 50s the Upton Bass Laminated SuperSwing Double Bass has real inlayed purfling throughout. German tuners by add to this double basss appeal. The scroll bevels pegbox interior rib miter F-holes and neck heel have all been painted black by hand this is optional and if you do not want the painted line please let us know. Hand finished in our Connecticut workshop in a classic Boiled Linseed Oil true blonde finish the UB Hybrid SuperSwing Double Bass is truly unlike any other instrument available on the double bass market in this price range.
